We are a loosely formed collective established in 2013 in Vancouver, Canada, instigating collaborative and community projects.
The founder and main collaborator is artist Laura Bucci. The other collaborators have been tangentially, and sometimes unknowingly, involved via discussion and participation in projects and have included partners, friends, and acquaintancies.
The projects contained under The Prohibitive Genus Collective, are concerned with social issues and all have a public component to them: installed in public spaces or performed in public spaces.
To date, the collective has worked with yarn installations, zines, interviews, online radio, and chance encounters.
The collective is dormant when it is happy and active when it is anxious.
