First off, I want to let you know of a write-up I did for Vancouver Mini Maker Faire where I shared why I practice craftivism. Read it at their blog.
If you missed the workshop I offered at Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, you might want to drop in at Artful Sundays on August 24th. I’ll be there from 12-5 teaching you how to cross-stitch something you care about. This event is free and I’ll be providing materials. Come by and let’s talk about what craftivism is while we stitch. This is a very nice informal event. More info here.
I’m working on a new series of small textile banners on the topic of minimum wage/living wage. I’ll have quite a few done by the 24th of August and then I’ll be installing them at an ideal spot I scouted on Commercial Drive (Vancouver). I’m planning for a one or two week installation and will be looking forward to see what happens. Will anyone take a favourite? And if so, will they take it? Once installed, these pieces are in a public space where anything can happen.
I’ve started to stitch hashtags on my fabric pieces so that people can connect with me if they wish. I’m curious to see if anyone will.
